Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you are logged into the AlgoCatch app and are on the main map screen.
Steps to add a catch
1. Open the main menu
On the main map screen, there is an icon with three lines (aka the "hamburger" menu) in the upper left corner. Clicking on this icon will open the main menu from the bottom of the screen.
2. Start the process of adding a catch
In the opened menu, find and click on the prominent blue button that says "Add Catch". After clicking, the menu will close and you will return to the map view.
3. Select a location on the map
You can move and zoom in on the map using the usual gestures (swiping with one finger and pinching in/out with two fingers). There is a gray circle in the middle of the screen that serves as a target for pinpointing the location. Move the map so that the target is at the exact location of your catch.
4. Confirm location
Once the target is in the desired location, click the green "Drop pin on map" button at the top of the screen.
5. Enter catch details
After confirming the location, a window titled "Log fish catch" will open from the bottom of the screen. In this window, you will see:
•Coordinates: The exact GPS coordinates of the selected location.
•Depth: The application will automatically calculate and display the depth at the selected location (e.g. 16.5 m).
•Species finder: A field for searching for fish species ("Search species").
6. Select fish species
Click in the search field and start typing the name of the fish (in Slovenian, Latin or another supported language). In the example from the video, the user typed "orada". The application will automatically display the relevant results (e.g. "Orada" with the Latin name "Sparus aurata"). Click on the relevant result to select it.
7. Saving your catch
If you wish, you can add additional information about your catch in the "Notes" field. When you are finished entering your catch, click the green "Save catch" button at the bottom of the window.
Reviewing your added catch
After successful saving, the window will close. A new blue pin will appear on the map at the selected location. In addition, your catch will be displayed at the bottom of the screen in the "Your recent catches" section, where you will find information about the fish species (Latin name), coordinates, depth and the option to delete the entry.
Note: The application uses a mixture of English and Slovenian/Croatian terminology. These instructions follow the interface as shown in the application.
