Step 1: Select Fishing Mode
1. Open the main app window where the map is displayed.
2. In the top right corner of the screen, you will see a blue button with your selected fishing mode (for example, "Trolling"). Click on it.
3. A menu titled "Fishing mode" will open from the bottom of the screen.
4. Select "Anchor" from the list of options.
5. The menu will close and the button in the top right corner will now display your new selection - "Anchor".
Step 2: Access the Tools Menu
1. In the bottom navigation bar on the far right, find and click on the "Tools" icon.
2. A new menu titled "Setup & tools" will open.
Step 3: Launch Spot Finder
1. In the "Setup & tools" menu, under the "TOOLS" section, click on the "Spot Finder" button.
2. A new section titled "Find Top Spots" will expand within the menu.
Step 4: Select your target fish species
1. In the "Find Top Spots" section, you will see a drop-down menu labeled "Target Species" showing the default species (e.g. Pagellus erythrinus).
2. Click on this drop-down menu to open a list of all available fish species.
3. Scroll through the list and select the desired species. In our example, select "Sparus aurata (Gilt-head bream)".
4. The drop-down menu will update to show your newly selected species.
Step 5: Find Spots
1.Click the blue "Find Spots" button.
2. A progress bar will briefly appear, indicating that the system is scanning for potential spots.
3.When the search is complete, green text will appear with information about the number of spots found (e.g. "Found 3 spots").
4.A new section titled "Found Spots" will appear below this text, listing all identified spots with their coordinates, depth, and calculated "Score".
Step 6: View Spots on the Map
1.Close the "Setup & tools" menu by clicking the "x" button in the upper right corner.
2.The view will return to the main map. You will now notice new orange circular markers with a white border representing the found spots.
3. You can zoom in and out to focus on the area with the new markers.
Step 7: View detailed location information
1. Click on one of the orange markers on the map.
2. A detailed menu titled "Spot Information" will open from the bottom of the screen.
3. In this menu you will find extensive information about the selected location, including:
•Depth (e.g. 12.5 m)
•Habitat (EUNIS Habitat)
•Seabed structure (bathymetry)
•Thermocline data
•Sea surface and bottom temperatures
•"Open in Google Maps" button to open the location in Google Maps
•Details about the target species (slope, roughness)
•Overall location score ("Spot Score", e.g. 43) with a breakdown of its components.
4.Scroll down the menu to review all available information.
Step 8: Closing the Spot Information
1.Once you have reviewed all the information, close the "Spot Information" menu by clicking the "x" button in the upper right corner.
2.You will be returned to the main map view where you can continue searching or analyzing other locations.
