Depth verification

how to tell AlgoCatch whether a tapped depth looks right, using your fishfinder or a sounding.

What you will learn: how to tell AlgoCatch whether a tapped depth looks right, using your fishfinder or a sounding.

Where: inside Inspect when a depth is available.

This is optional. It does not change your fishing plan. It teaches the depth grid over time.

Send a verdict

When the inspect card shows a depth, a short form can appear:

Does this depth look right?

  • Yes - looks right
  • Unsure
  • No - wrong

If you choose No (or want to be precise):

FieldWhat to enter
Your depth (m)What your sounder / chart / rope said
SourceFishfinder, Chart, Anchor rope, or Other
NotesAnything useful (swell, tide, “I was 50 m west of the pin”)

Submit when the button enables. You should get a short confirmation. There is no public leaderboard.

Extra notes the form may show

  • A GPS is coarse warning if your phone position is uncertain — move the inspect pin, do not blame the grid for a 30 m GPS wander.
  • Snapped to sea — the tap was on the shoreline; depth was taken from the nearest water cell.
