Why did two anglers build a fishing map?
Because in the Savudrija shoals water deep enough to fish sits hundreds of metres from shore, and no navigation chart, generic map or phone app answered the one question: exactly where to cast or troll. They built the chart they needed.

I am Gregor. In June 2018 I spent an evening trolling the 20-30 m line hundreds of metres off that beach, looking for an anchorage and a trolling path, and every chart I had told me the depth without telling me whether the bottom was the one I wanted. We built the chart we needed after that session, not after a product workshop.
Every guide still ends at the same check: where to cast or troll. The dated first session is June 2018.
Why anglers rather than a plotter company?
A navigation-chart company sells tracks, hazards and approaches. AlgoCatch sells the fishing decision: depth band, Folk-5 seabed and species habitat at the point you will fish. It is a planning chart, not a plotter company; you still navigate with a plotter and official charts.

Lenart still runs both on a boat day: the planning chart for the depth band and the bottom, then official charts for the passage (July 2024, leaving a Kvarner harbour for an anchor edge). He does not use our map as the thing that keeps the boat off the rocks.

Where have the founders fished, and what did they learn there?
Gregor's home water is the Istrian west coast: trolling lines off Savudrija, dentex over rock, gilthead on sand. Lenart's is the boat: harbours, Folk-5 patches seen only offshore, and the contour that holds fish versus one that only looks deep.
The home waters are where the rules in the map come from, written as observations, not as catch counts.
Gregor. In May 2024 I trolled the 20-35 m line off that same west-coast shoal and treated the sand-to-rock change as the go / no-go, not the pretty water inshore. In September 2025 I shore-spun the Medulin rocks at last light and kept the pin on the mixed edge, not on the bare platform. Dentex over rock and gilthead on sand are the two reads those years taught me. The third lesson is older and already told above: if the useful water sits hundreds of metres out, a beach photo is not a plan.
Lenart. In October 2025 he trolled a deep-looking contour off Rovinj that had no edge and moved us onto a tighter band that did. In April 2026 he anchored a Cres drop-off in the mid-20s of metres and spent the session on the structure, not on the flat that only looked promising from the harbour mouth. In July 2024, the same harbour day already named, he used official charts for the exit and the planning chart for the edge. His rule: a contour that only looks deep is not a fishing contour.
Gregor's sessions are the Istrian west coast. Lenart's are boat days on Trieste-Ancona, the Slovenian coast, Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia. The contour lesson, not the method, lives in the Adriatic depth map guide.
