Fishing Piran

Piran is the most “Istrian-feeling” point on the Slovenian coast: near the border, near the flats, near the story AlgoCatch grew from. Short distances mean you can test several hypotheses in one morning — if you know where to look. The map shows only zones scored ≤ 50.

Habitat zones (score ≤ 50)

We only show public zones with score up to 50. Green / high-probability peaks stay in the VIP app.

Season

Spring for seabream on the flats, autumn for a calmer rhythm, summer very early. Weather in the gulf changes fast — keep a plan B.

Techniques

Surfcasting, anchoring, light trolling toward the Savudrija flats in favourable conditions. Precision > kilometres.

Depths and bottom

From bathymetry in the location frame: about 0.1–396 m (median 23.5 m, 13009 samples). Shallow to mid (often 2–20 m). Here the model especially helps separate “almost right” from “exactly here”.

Frequently asked questions

Is Piran linked to Savudrija?
Yes — geographically and for fishing. See also Fishing Savudrija for the neighbouring focus.
Why is a shallow gulf demanding?
Because position errors are costly: 100 m away can be a completely different story.
What is the next step?
