Trolling the Adriatic contour: search the isobath, then sit

Trolling on this corridor is a contour search along an isobath, then often an anchor. The boat moves. The line should stay in water the model knows for the fish you named. It is not a random zigzag. Definition

You pick a species, a depth band, and a line that hugs a readable edge. Suggested routes in the app follow that idea. You can also draw the contour yourself. The line is a plan. It is not an autopilot. Watch the sounder.

Pelagic work often starts here: Adriatic pelagics. After a hit you often sit. That sit is anchor fishing.

Where it applies

Istria's western belt and island edges where depth changes slowly. Kvarner channels when traffic allows. Dalmatian outer islands when you have a real contour, not a tourist quay. Fishing Cres is a working example of current-line water. Rimini sand is not a trolling product.

Italy: trolling overlay is incomplete. Do not read a harbour chip as a finished Italian trolling map.

Two working habits

Zoom until you see a clean 15-30 m edge, or the deeper band you actually run. Suggest once. Pick the line that follows the edge you like. Save it. On the water, still watch the machine.

If the first pass is mute, shift ten to thirty metres or change hour. Do not steam a new gulf because the first line was quiet.

Search then sit

A moving pass finds the colour change or the bait line. Then you stop. Anchor is the sit on a Folk-5 edge. Trolling is not a substitute for sitting the class that holds orada or pandora.

Italy

If you are already on the Trieste to Ancona strip, keep trolling as a search line only where the overlay is live. Fishing NE Italy is sea-side approaches, not a second Croatia. Modes there are unfinished.

Contour, not a zigzag

The isobath is the product. A line that wanders across sand plates because the plotter looked busy is not trolling on this corridor. Stay in the band you named. Shallow coast and deeper offshore are different setups in the app. Pick one. Suggested routes hug a depth you can see. Draw the route if you already know the edge. Route statistics are a length and a score along a plan. They are not a fish count. Watch the sounder. The website is not an autopilot.

Pelagics on the pass

Mackerel, bonito and amberjack share Adriatic pelagics. This page stays the method. Early current lines are the visitor window. Noon glare is not. SST, currents and effort have their own articles. If the first pass is mute, change hour or shift the contour. Cres is a working example of current-line water. Rimini is not. Italy incomplete means a chip can appear while the overlay is thin.

Search then anchor

A hit, a colour change, a bait line: then you often stop. Anchor fishing is the Folk-5 sit. Trolling is not a way to avoid reading class. If you only wanted orada on a sand edge, start on anchor. If you wanted a moving pelagic search, start here, then sit. Do not run both as a panic loop all morning. One job per hour.
