Log a catch (Fish Catcher)

how to pin a catch on the map, pick a species, save it, and delete it.

Last updated 18 Aug 2026

What you will learn: how to pin a catch on the map, pick a species, save it, and delete it.

Screen title (sheet): Log fish catch
How to open: Dodaj Ulov in the map top bar or app menu. The label is Croatian in every language. Address: /fish-catcher.

You must be signed in. Free and VIP can both log catches. This is how you keep a personal log and how the models can improve.

Catches are stored on your account, not only in the browser. That is different from saved spots.

Place the catch

The map hint: Tap the map to place a catch.

  • Tap the water where you landed the fish, or
  • Tap Use my location (Locating…) to use GPS

Back to map returns to the planner without saving.

If you are outside your allowed area, you get a bounds error. If GPS fails, you get a permission or accuracy message — place the pin by tapping instead.

Fill the sheet

The sheet Log fish catch shows:

  • Coordinates
  • Source: GPS or Map click
  • GPS accuracy in metres when known
  • Depth, sampled automatically from the sea grid

Depth problems:

  • No sea depth at this point. Move the pin into the water.
  • Depth taken from the nearest sea point (pin is right at the shoreline).
  • Could not sample depth at this location. — retry or move the pin

Species: search in Slovenian, Latin, or slug, then pick from the table. If the fish is missing, Can't find it? Add custom species.

Notes are optional.

Tap Save catch (Saving…). You need a species and a valid depth.

If save fails: Failed to save catch. (or a more specific server message). Try again.

Until you choose a location: Choose a location on the map first.

Recent catches

A panel Your recent catches lists what you have logged. Delete removes one. Empty: No catches logged yet.

Use this after a session while you still remember the mark. A catch is not the same as a planner spot — log the fish here, save the mark in Anchor tools if you will return.
