What you will learn: what deletion removes, what the law may keep, and how to confirm so you do not tap it by accident.
How to open: map menu → Delete account
A dialog opens: Delete your account?
Deletion is permanent. You cannot undo it from the app.
What is deleted
The dialog states:
Deleted: account, saved spots, catches, and onboarding preferences.
After this, that email cannot sign in. Catches and server-side spots tied to the account are removed from AlgoCatch systems.
Spots and routes that lived only in this browser (see Saved spots) may still sit in the device until you clear site data. They are no longer tied to an account.
What may be kept
The dialog is explicit:
- Retained where required by law: Stripe invoices and limited email backups.
- We request deletion from analytics processors (Google, Meta, Sentry); this is not an instant purge.
Payment records can remain with the payment provider because of accounting rules. Analytics vendors are asked to erase; that can take time.
How to confirm
- Read the dialog. There is no recovery button later.
- Type your email to confirm. It must match your account email exactly.
- Tap Delete account (Deleting…).
- Cancel closes the dialog without deleting.
Mismatch shows: Email does not match your account.
A failed request shows: Could not delete account. Please try again. Wait and retry, or contact support before you try repeatedly.
After deletion
You land on Sign in with: Your account was deleted. Some analytics processors may retain data briefly; we requested erasure.
If you want AlgoCatch again, create a new free account. VIP does not transfer.
If you only wanted to stop paying, manage your subscription instead of deleting.
