In-app layer help. The ranking guide is here.

What you will learn: how to turn on the beta sea-surface-temperature colours and read them.

Mode name: [Beta] SST HeatMap (short: SST)
Where: MoreWeather, or desktop Weather

SST is sea surface temperature — the skin of the sea, from a model/satellite pipeline. Pelagic fish often relate to temperature breaks. Bottom fish may not.

The [Beta] tag means the layer can lag, have gaps, or change as the feed improves.

Open SST

  1. MoreWeather[Beta] SST HeatMap.
  2. In setup, enable Show SST heatmap and set opacity.
  3. Advanced overlays may be available in the same panel.
  4. Open LayersShow legends for the colour scale (cold → warm).
  5. Tap the water to inspect the temperature at that point.

If the heatmap is missing

The controls explain when the manifest (the file that says which images to load) is missing. Wait, zoom to coverage, or try again later. SST is only useful inside Adriatic coverage.
