NE Italy (Trieste–Ancona)

Fishing Ancona

Ancona is the southern end of the official north-east Italian claim: a working harbour on the Marche coast, not a licence to keep going toward Pescara. AlgoCatch maps inspect depth and habitat, certified gilthead/pandora/scorpionfish anchors, hillshade and the generic fish heatmap on this pin. Conero-side rock can look inviting; stay inside the published strip and do not treat every mode as Italy-complete. Recreational planning only, not navigation.

Species in the model

Gilthead, pandora and scorpionfish are the certified anchors. Other species lists are not advertised as Italy-complete.

Access and trip shape

Commercial harbour rhythm: early exit, clear corridors, 3-6 hour loop. Do not treat the southbound coast as product coverage. Shore access exists away from the main quay.

This is Italian water on the Trieste-Ancona strip. Recreational rules, harbour limits and any AMP or lagoon restriction are yours to check. AlgoCatch does not sell a permit and does not draw every reserve. Recreational rules.

Water character

More relief than Rimini, still a mainland harbour coast. Mixed Folk-5 and local harder belts. Bora and jugo both matter.

Season

March-May and September-October are the honest peaks. July-August need first light. Winter is selective. South of Ancona is outside the v1 claim even if the map rectangle still lets you pan.

Techniques

Anchor on a readable edge first. A moving line is a search, not a certified trolling product here. Shore jigging matrices are not Italy-complete. Bathymetry tiles at zoom 13-15 may 404.

Depths and bottom

Approaches often 8-35 m. Working catch is in the structured mid belt, not the deepest hole you can find.

Conditions and when to stay ashore

Harbour traffic, bora and a quick jugo. Do not run south “because the map still pans”. Licence and local rules stay yours.

Frequently asked questions

Can I keep going south of Ancona?
The map rectangle may still let you pan. Official fishing-layer coverage does not. Pescara and further south are outside the v1 claim.
Is this all of east Italy?
No. Trieste to Ancona only. Not the Tyrrhenian, Sicily or Sardinia.
Do I need an Italian licence in Ancona?
Yes. Ancona is a Marche harbour on Italian water, not a Croatian stamp. AlgoCatch does not sell licences.
When should I stay ashore in Ancona?
Stay ashore in harbour traffic you cannot clear, in a bora that stops small boats, and when a quick jugo closes the return. Do not run south because the map still pans.
