Mode name: Trolling
Plan: Free (core mode)

Trolling in AlgoCatch means: you will move the boat and you want a line that stays in sensible water for the fish you named — usually along a contour, not a random zigzag.

Switch to Trolling

  1. Tap the mode pill → Trolling.
  2. Open Tools.

Setup

Depth profile

  • Shallow coast (≤30m) — inside, harbour mouths, coastal trolling
  • Deeper offshore — when you leave the shelf edge

Species (examples you will see): common dentex, greater amberjack, leerfish, Atlantic bonito, mahi-mahi. Pick the one you will actually tow for. The suggested lines change.

Tools

  1. Suggest routes — AlgoCatch draws candidate lines in the current view. Free: 2 per day (4 in the first 48 hours).
  2. Draw Route — you click the contour yourself. No daily cap.
  3. Saved Routes — keep up to 2 lines on Free, unlimited on VIP.
  4. Tap a line for Route Statistics (length, time, scores).

Turn on depth contours so you can see why a suggested line hugs a particular depth.

A simple trolling plan

  1. Jump to your harbour or GPS.
  2. Zoom until you see a clean 15–30 m (or offshore) edge.
  3. Set species + depth profile.
  4. Suggest once. Pick the line that follows the edge you like.
  5. Save it. Export if you want it on another plotter workflow.
  6. On the water, still watch the sounder — the line is a plan, not an autopilot.
