Zone finder (Recommend zones)

how to scan the **current map view** for ranked fishing zones for one species.

Last updated 18 Aug 2026

What you will learn: how to scan the current map view for ranked fishing zones for one species.

UI names: Zone finder / Find recommended zones / button Recommend zones
Where: Tools in Anchor, Shore Jigging, Surfcasting, and Spearfishing. Also on the Zone summary card.

This is not a secret GPS pin from a Facebook group. It ranks areas in what you are looking at: work a zone, do not crowd one coordinate.

Run a search

  1. Choose the fishing mode that matches how you will actually fish. Shore jigging and surfcasting use different species lists.
  2. Pan and zoom so the screen covers tonight’s water — not the whole Adriatic.
  3. Open Tools.
  4. Set Target species. If the species is common dentex (zobatec), also set Season (Spring Mar–May, Summer Jun–Sep, Autumn Oct–Nov, Winter Dec–Feb). Dentex depth preference changes with the season.
  5. Tap Recommend zones (Finding zones…).
  6. You should see Found {n} zone(s) and markers on the map.

Open Recommended zones / Found zones. Tap a row (Zone n, Score: {score}) to focus the map. Then inspect or save a spot.

Clear removes the current result set so you can search again.

What the score is

Each zone gets a score from how well depth, structure/relief, and bottom type match that species in this mode. Higher is a better model match. It is not a live fishfinder.

On the zone card you can open Score details for the components:

  • Depth suitability
  • Structure/relief
  • Bottom type

See also Model accuracy.

Free vs VIP

Free users can run zone finder in Trolling / Anchor / Longline workflows that they can open. Shore, surf, and spear modes themselves are VIP locked.

For habitats, Free zone-style search is limited to the unlocked habitat (gilthead). VIP runs ranked zones across habitats. Copy: VIP recommends ranked zones for every unlocked species.

Export CSV of ranked zones is VIP (Export ranked zones as CSV for the boat). Free users view zones in the app.

If you get no zones

  • Zoom to a smaller, more interesting piece of coast
  • Confirm you are in coverage
  • Try a species that actually uses this depth (do not search hake on a 2 m flat)
  • For dentex, try another season
  • Wait for Finding zones… to finish; a very wide view is slower
