What you will learn: the two questions AlgoCatch asks the first time you open the map, and the small checklist that appears afterwards.
The first time you reach the map, a sheet slides up. It is not an advert. It jumps the chart to your water and turns on gilthead (orada) habitat so you can read the bottom before you spend the day guessing.
You can skip any step. The map still opens.
Step 1 — Where do you fish?

Choose one:

If GPS fails, you see: Couldn’t get location. Pick a harbour or explore yourself. That is normal on a desktop without location permission, or if you denied access. Pick a harbour instead.
Allowing location only moves the map. It does not publish your position to other anglers.
Step 2 — What do you fish?

Body: Gilthead stays free. Tick what else you chase - we’ll show the matching structure when you’re ready.
- Gilthead seabream (orada) is marked Free · always unlocked. It stays available on every plan.
- Other species chips may show VIP. Ticking them does not charge you during onboarding. AlgoCatch remembers what you care about and can offer those habitats later.
Then:
- Show me the map — applies your picks and closes the sheet.
- Skip - just orada for now — opens the map with gilthead only.
After the sheet: the first-session checklist
A compact checklist can appear on the map: First session · n/3.
The three jobs are:
- Jump to your fishing area — harbour or GPS (you may already have done this).
- Read gilthead (orada) on a contour — pan along a depth line with habitat visible. Green means stronger gilthead structure.
- Save a spot or try 1 free route — drop a pin and save it, or open Tools and generate a route.
Coach lines you may see:
- Green = stronger gilthead structure. Pan the shelf - this is your free read.
- Tap the map to drop a spot - then save it.
- Open Tools and generate a free route.
- Pick a harbour under Tools, or allow location to jump there.
When all three are done, Free users see a short wrap-up that you can now read this water, and that seabass, bluefish, or dentex habitats are there when you want more. VIP users see a prompt to switch to another species they ticked. You can Hide the checklist.
If the sheet does not appear
Onboarding only runs once per account on this browser. If you already finished or skipped it, you will not see it again. Use Find your location and Fishing modes instead.
